Training and Preparation

After receipt of deposit, Participants will be scheduled for their 5-day qualification program in the Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area which includes medical screening and aeronautical education.

Upon arrival, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort and Spa, internationally acclaimed for its contemporary design and award winning restaurant. You’ll have the opportunity to meet other prospective Participants and take advantage of the many amenities that Sanctuary has to offer.

The next day begins the qualification program and will include further screening and orientation, aeronautical education, and the history of flight. Spacesuit fitting and familiarization of the helmet will also take place prior to beginning the medical evaluation.

RocketShip Tours has made arrangements with respected physicians and experts of the Aerospace Medicine Program at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona to provide medical screening and evaluation for Lynx flight Participants. The Mayo Clinic has a rich history and legacy in Aerospace Medicine, including development of life support systems in World War II for acceleration protection (G-suits, M-1 Anti G straining maneuver), high altitude protection (oxygen masks, pressure suits) and current work in the area of spatial disorientation, high altitude and acceleration tolerance.

Led by Dr. Jan Stepanek, Medical Director of the Aerospace Medicine Program, the Mayo Clinic specialists have firsthand experience and training in high performance environments and pre-flight medical assessments. Participants will appreciate the personalized approach and comfortable atmosphere at the Mayo Clinic’s state-of-the-art facility.

During the final evening, an esteemed ASU Professor of Astronomy will bring his powerful telescope to a celebration dinner and give a brief lecture. You’ll have the unique experience of stargazing from the top of Sanctuary, which promises to be awe-inspiring and an unforgettable highlight of your qualification program.

A New Suit

Orbital Outfitters is the innovative manufacturer and developer of The Industrial Suborbital Spacesuit (IS3), the most advanced and highest quality pressurized spacesuit available.
